About this guide
Last reviewed · verify live park facts with Parks Australia
kakaduguide.com.au is an independent, unofficial visitor guide. We help people plan walks, rock-art visits, itineraries, stays and tours in and around Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory — with a practical focus on three separate fee systems, Ubirr sunset, Burrungkuy timing, Yellow Water days, and honest notes on heat and crocodiles.
We are not Parks Australia, the Director of National Parks, Traditional Owners (Bininj/Mungguy), the Australian Government, the Northern Territory Government, or any commercial tour, cruise or resort operator unless explicitly stated.
We acknowledge Bininj/Mungguy Traditional Owners and their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. Kakadu is jointly managed Aboriginal land leased to the Director of National Parks. This site does not speak for Traditional Owner groups or for Parks Australia. We don’t make up cultural detail, restricted stories or ceremony. Prefer official acknowledgment wording and public interpretive material from kakadu.gov.au, Bowali and Warradjan.
TRUST / methodology
Last Verified 13 Sep 2026 · . Site-wide review stamp: 2026-09-13.
We work from public Parks Australia / kakadu.gov.au pages, the daily Kakadu Access Report, Bowali Visitor Centre information, NT Road Report and Be Crocwise guidance. Fees, seasons and access notes on this site were last checked 13 Sep 2026 against the Access Report last stamped 11 Sept 2026, 2:24 pm Darwin time. If a number can change, we still send you to the official page. This site is not a live fee table or a live Access Report.
- Distances, grades, fees, swimming status and open/closed claims must be verified on kakadu.gov.au and the Access Report before you travel. We don’t claim to know today’s closures.
- Published park-pass figures and the June 2026 Tropical Summer-rate announcement are for planning — not today’s official price list.
- Uncertain figures are marked [VERIFY]: full camping fee schedules, Barrk reopening, Jabiru airport status, Maguk reopening after crocodile management, Gunlom swim clearance, and any mobile cell beyond the published list.
- This site does not publish a public contact email — see Contact for official park channels and site expectations.

Help people plan Kakadu without mixing the park pass, camping fees and walk permits into one “entry fee”, and without treating Ubirr sunset plus Burrungkuy plus a southern 4WD site as a casual afternoon. Ads and affiliate links help pay for the guides and are disclosed. Official park passes and park-managed camping are never affiliated.
Cultural respect
Rock-art sites are living cultural places. Stay on marked paths, do not touch paintings, and do not take alcohol to Ubirr (prohibited for cultural reasons). Use ranger talks (included in the park pass) and official interpretive material. This guide does not make up clan names, story detail or ceremony.
Images & attribution
Place visuals are labelled xAI Imagine AI illustrations — landscape and wildlife mood only. They are not photographs, not official Parks Australia images, and not a specific rock-art panel. Advertising & affiliates
The site may display advertising and affiliate links (stays, tours, gear) to fund free content. Disclosures appear on relevant pages and in the affiliate disclosure. Park passes, camping fees, walk permits and official Parks Australia bookings are never affiliated.
National Parks Guide Australia network
This is one deep park guide (Kakadu) in the National Parks Guide Australia network of independent Australian national park visitor guides. The visitor-facing hub is nationalparksguide.com.au — browse the directory and how the network works. The publisher remains Farming Domains.
Browse all parks → nationalparksguide.com.au
Kakadu sits on hub collections for dual World Heritage listing, for trips that are not a Darwin same-day return, and for crocodile-and-wetland wildlife — unlike a Red Centre icon or a two-hour capital lookout.
